How the New R2696/8 (Now R2697/9) Delivers More Options
“After giving feedback on the R2696/8, we were pleased to see Spaldings take the comments on board and revise the design. The move to the modular side‑plate system—similar to what the narrow R2695 point uses in the Grange family—has been a real improvement in day‑to‑day use.
The updated setup now gives us genuine choice in how we run the machine. We can opt for a low‑disturbance configuration when conditions call for it, or switch to full leg protection when working at true subsoiling depth. That flexibility simply wasn’t possible with the previous R2696/8 arrangement.
Another major benefit has been compatibility. The new design allows Spaldings points to fit OEM legs without the interference issues we previously had when machines came from the factory with hard-faced legs. With the old side plates, clearance was tight and could cause problems; the revised modular layout has eliminated that completely.
Overall, the redesign has made the system more adaptable, easier to work with, and better suited to the range of machines and leg types we run. It’s a clear example of customer feedback being taken seriously and turned into a practical, well‑thought‑out improvement”.
