SPL Rust Converter

An acid free rust neutraliser for use on corroded steel and sand blasted materials as pre-coating preparation. A white, water based, safe product which reacts quickly with rust to produce an insoluble blue/black coating prior to painting. Ideal for automotive, home, marine and industrial applications. Supplied ready to use.

NB. DO NOT overpaint with other anti-corrosion treatments.

Coverage approx.: 10-15m2 per litre.
Drying time: Touch dry in 15-45 minutes.
Allow to cure for 24 hours before applying overcoat.
(Clean application equipment with soap and water).
Shelf life: Use within 6 months of opening the container.

Suggested application:
Recommended for use on rusted steel surfaces or patches of rust as a rust converter/metal primer. Overpaint with implement primer then hard implement enamel to give long lasting protection against corrosion.

Technical

Preparation -

Clean off any oil or grease deposits. Remove loose flakes or high spots of rust, blistered paint etc. Salt must be removed using a suitable detergent and fresh water. It is not necessary or desirable to remove all traces of rust.

Application -

Surface temperature at application should be above the dew point and below 40°c.

Transfer a quantity of product to a non-metallic container for application. Apply using brush, roll or airless spray equipment. Work well into deeply pitted areas using a brush to ensure complete coverage.
