Spaldings Columns and Fans keep grain and other crops fresh, cool and in optimum condition in a bulk store bin or silo for many months.
How do the columns work?
Grain columns work by cooling grain quickly to ambient temperature. The system is based on the suction of air through the grain. The fan placed at the top of the column sucks air from the piled grain to the perforated base of the column, up the inside of the column and out through the fan.
How many columns per store?
As a guide the spacing from the column to store wall should be a maximum of 1.5 metres and between each column a maximum of 3 metres.
One louvred perforation for all crops!
The perforated section of column allows air to be drawn from the stored crop. The inlet holes in Spaldings grain columns are louvred ensuring the holes do not become blocked preventing airflow. This unique louvred design make the columns suitable for all crop types!
Where can the system be installed?
The column system is versatile and can be used in grain stores and silos with grain depth of 2 - 4 metres.
Installation is low cost and simple with the columns stood on the building floor and grain piled around. Column sections can be added and taken away depending on the crop depth.
When not required Spaldings columns can be easily moved allowing the building to be used for other purposes.
