Under the Stars
Spaldings Ltd’s participation in YMCA Lincolnshire’s Sleep Easy 2025 has made a lasting impact, bringing attention and support to the community's most vulnerable. On the cool evening of Friday, 7th March, Paul Bray (CEO), Nigel Whelan (COO), and eight other team members joined volunteers outside Lincoln Cathedral, spending the night under the stars in nothing but cardboard boxes. The experience served as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by those without stable housing.
For the past 15 years, Spaldings has been a key supporter of the Sleep Easy initiative by providing the cardboard boxes participants rely on during the event. This year, the team went a step further by personally experiencing what it’s like to sleep rough, highlighting their commitment to YMCA Lincolnshire’s mission.
Reflecting on the night, Paul Bray shared, “Sleeping in just a cardboard box was a humbling experience that gave us a small glimpse into what many endure every day. We’re immensely grateful to all our sponsors for helping us support this vital cause.” Nigel Whelan added, “Having supplied the boxes for 15 years, it was important for us to go beyond donations and actively participate. This event truly underscores the importance of working together to make a difference.”
Thanks to the dedication of the Spaldings team and generous contributions from their supporters, the campaign successfully raised significant funds (over £1700) for YMCA Lincolnshire’s critical services, which include housing support, youth engagement, and more.
