Newbold Revel Community Payback Scheme Uses Donated Tools to Grow a Greener Future

Spaldings’ Groundcare Division has generously donated over £500 worth of gardening tools and equipment to support a Warwickshire Community Payback Scheme. This initiative, run by the Probation Service, supervises individuals on probation who have been sentenced to community service, helping them contribute to local improvement projects and move away from reoffending.Pictured at the handover in January are HMPPS Clare Lowe; Project Placement Coordinator, Louise Lockett; Unpaid Work Supervisor, Doug Little; Spaldings Groundcare Field Sales Representative.

Supported by Newbold Revel Prison Training College, the scheme has identified a disused industrial polytunnel within the estate grounds. Despite its state of disrepair, it is now available for Community Payback use, with the goal of growing plug allotment plants, wildflowers, and bedding plants for distribution within the local community.

Additionally, wooden pallets have been provided to create hedgehog and bug houses, which will also be donated to local community projects within the Eastern Hub, encompassing Coventry, Warwickshire, and Tamworth.

“All of the above works have been greatly helped by the generous support of Spaldings. The donated tools will assist in future production of many more hedgehog/ bug houses and the planned spring growth of plug plants.

Our Spalding’s Field Representative Doug Little has been indispensable in the knowledge and advice offered in respect of the correct tools required and application of. The difference achieved already, in a short period of time has been immense.

Thank you Spaldings for your generous support.” -  HM Prison & Probation Service.
