Winter wheat needs precise nutrition to achieve strong establishment, healthy tillering, and high yields. Bionature UK’s programme available from Spaldings uses smart liquid fertilisers to support root development, reduce nitrogen losses, and improve stress tolerance. By targeting key growth stages with products like NHK Delta, TipTop, and CalFlux, the programme helps farmers grow more resilient, uniform, and productive crops.
Standard Outline Programme (Winter Wheat)
Below is a standard outline programme for Winter Wheat, which may need adapting depending on weather and soil conditions.
Delta K
Apply 5 l/ha of Delta K from peri-emergence in the autumn. If the farmer is confident the sprayer will travel later in the autumn, this application can be split into two and applied a month to six weeks apart at 2.5l/ha. Delta K will mix with all known herbicides and insecticides applied to wheat and barley in the autumn, so the farmer doesn’t have to do an extra pass with the sprayer.
Additional Option A* Apply 2ltr/ha Leodita in the autumn with to winter wheat, as a soil improver.
Additional Option B** Apply 1 ltr/ha 1-4All in the autumn with Delta K to help with disease susceptible varieties.
Standard Autumn Programme (Winter Wheat - drilled on clay land)
One application of 5l/ha Delta K with an autumn herbicide from Peri-emergence to two true leaves.
Organic farmers or regenerative agriculture farmers:
Apply 2l/ha Leodita from peri-emergence in the autumn to winter wheat or barley. A humic acid soil improving product containing high carbon content.
Benefits of the Programme
- Stronger Root Development
- Promotes deeper, more extensive roots for better nutrient and water uptake.
- Improved Tillering
- Encourages more productive shoots, leading to increased yield potential.
- Reduced Nitrogen Losses
- Smart fertiliser formulations help retain nitrogen in the root zone, improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
- Enhanced Stress Tolerance
- Supports the crop during periods of drought, cold, or disease pressure.
- Better Crop Uniformity
- Leads to more consistent growth and maturity across the field.
- Higher Grain Quality
- Improves protein content, grain fill, and overall market value.
- Increased Yield Potential
- Optimised nutrition throughout the season helps maximise output.
